Campus Renewal and Branding

The overhead pedestrian link between Carleton University’s Athletics Centre and Gymnasium is prominently located at the east pedestrian campus entrance along Bronson Avenue. The existing link construction had reached the end of its lifecycle in 2016 for both the building envelope and mechanical/ electrical systems. Carleton University’s goal was to have a total building renewal of this important pedestrian feature for both students and visitors. The link was stripped down to the existing steel structure and DLA designed a new lightweight building envelope with curtain wall framing, glazing for transparency, new lighting technology and the capacity for future LED display screens. The new exterior and interior of the link incorporated materials, colours and the Ravens logo in accordance with Carleton University brand guidelines.
