Lobby Rejuvenation

The Interior Renovations at 359 Kent Street, formerly known as the “Legion Building”, encompasses all floors of this historically significant building within Ottawa’s downtown core. The project includes the interior fit-up for separate clients on each of their respective floors as well as addressing the main entrance and common areas. Built in 1955 and subsequently renovated in the 70’s, the main entrance and lobby of the building was outdated and inaccessible, with a staircase leading from the street entrance up to a main lobby on the second level. The renovations to the lobby transformed the entrance by removing the staircase and the second floor and providing a new, shorter staircase leading down to the lower level. A “LULA” lift was integrated into this revitalized space to allow for barrier-free access to the new lower level. The new two-storey lobby, with its abundance of natural light, creates an elegant and inviting entrance. A feature “light wall” was designed to emphasize the height of the space and creates a new focal point.
